Marsala is a wine produced in the region surrounding the Italian city of Marsala in Sicily. Marsala wine first received Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) status in 1969. Lazzaroni Marsala Dry and Sweet have been aged about one year. While it is produced to be consumed before or after dinner, Marsala is frequently used in cooking and is especially prevalent in many Italian restaurants. One of the most popular Marsala recipes is Chicken Marsala. It is also used in the preparation of some risotto dishes as well as some Italian dessert recipes.

Lazzaroni Ferro China

What is Ferro-China… An Italian tonic first made famous in the last decades of the 1800s by a Pharmacist from Milan named Bisleri and a Doctor from Rome named Baliva. Both men combined the pharmaceutical remedies of the bark of china (chinchona, used to make quinine) and iron citrate, an iron based salt, made from citric acid and iron sulfate, into a drinkable therapeutic, bitter tonic. Ferro-China is part of the Italian Amaro category, but lighter in color, body and alcohol than most other digestive, Amaro drinks. Ferro-China also enjoyed an export boom to the US market during Prohibition. It was considered a pharmaceutical product and could be prescribed by Doctors. In Italy, a teaspoon a day was given by mothers to their children at that time to aid their growth. Lazzaroni first started the production of Ferro-China in the late 1800s but discontinued production about 30 years ago. The family recipe was recreated this year. Today, Lazzaroni Ferro-China joins Lazzaroni Fernet and Lazzaroni Amaro in the portfolio. Claims are no longer made for any medical or growth benefits, and a prescription is no longer need to obtain historic Lazzaroni Ferro-China. With a herbal mocha coffee, and roasted chestnut aroma and a hint of vanilla with delicate spice overtone, this liqueur is traditionally enjoyed over ice as an aperitif, as a digestif after dinner and as a modifier in cocktails.

Maraska Maraschino Cherries

The Marasca Cherry originating from Asia Minor was brought to the Mediterranean during the time of The Roman Empire. The tree adjusted very well to the rocky and dry soil of its new homeland. The specific Mediterranean climate, soil in northern Dalmatia and Zadar ́s hinterland provided the ideal climate for the marasca cherry to ripen to the finest quality and it became an autochthon plant in Dalmatia. The oldest written document written about the Marasca Cherry tree was found among the documents of the State Archive in Zadar, in the late Middle Ages in 1339. It was described: „...one large tree of marasca near the town Zadar, on the position of Kolovare, in a vineyard by Fontana, near the sea...“.. This document is at the same time the oldest written document in the wider Dalmatia region. The cherries are pitted and are perfect for cocktails of all types. Approximately 50% of the jar is Marasca cherry syrup and 50% are the cherries. All natural dark cherry color with no artificial ingredients and made from the cherries grown in Zadar by the Maraska Company.

Moletto Gin

Produced using from a mixed grain distillate, and two spirits made from Mediterranean and Alpine juniper berries. The gin’s uniqueness comes from the tomato, light and well-balanced spring water from the Dolomites, and traditional and artisanal distillation in old copper stills. Begins with a burst of juniper fragrance. Then the sunny Mediterranean essence of the tomato, followed by notes of rosemary, mint, basil, and then citrusy and balsamic notes.
